Paulo Bucho, Senstroke demonstrator at the Web Summit 2018
During the Web Summit 2018, we were able to go to Lisbon as a Start-up selected by the Business France delegation.
During these few days, we were able to present the new Senstroke virtual drumkit.
As the biggest event we had ever attended, the Web Summit was the perfect opportunity to meet one of our first Portuguese clients: Paulo Bucho.
A confirmed drummer in several projects, including the metal group Cavemaster, Paulo is a big fan of new technology, especially of virtual drumkit.
It was therefore quite naturally that he became quicky interested in Senstroke. He was one of our first customers, supporting our project from the very beginning on Kickstarter.
When Paulo heard that we were going to participate in the Web Summit in Lisbon, he contacted us so that we could meet on site.
Soon after, and given his commitment and enthusiasm for Senstroke, we asked him to do demonstrations for Redison at the Web Summit.
Paulo immediately accepted and we were able to meet when I arrived in Lisbon.
I was then able to personally give him his Senstroke box, and we conducted an interview on the stairs of the Altice Arena, the venue of the Web Summit.
Paulo’s Interview
We finally met on the occasion of Redison’s presence at the Web Summmit in Lisbon.
Paulo had the opportunity to test Senstroke, and I was able to deliver his order by hand when I arrived in Portugal.
So Paulo, what do you think of the Senstroke sensors ?
The sensors offer very good sensitivity and high clearance accuracy. It’s much better than I expected.
I have already been able to test other technologies, which are much less advanced in terms of connected virtual drumkit.
What features do you like most about Senstroke?
The ability to play with other software like Garabeband is clearly another feature that I greatly appreciate, allowing more versatility in the sounds available.
What do you think we could improve, either on the hardware or application side, to make Senstroke the perfect connected virtual drumkit ?
But the possibility of playing precisely via Garageband overcomes the problem of the realism of the Senstroke application’s sounds.
So it’s a good thing you chose the MIDI format to maximize compatibility with other DAWs.
This allows the sensors to be configured with the Senstroke application, while still having the choice of sound emulation software. Musicians familiar with working with software such as Logic Pro, Cubase or Repear are not destabilized.
I think that with a few updates, the Senstroke application will be an even better connected virtual drumkit tool than it already is !
And what do you think of the Web Summit this year ? As a dedicated customer, you became a Senstroke demonstrator throughout the event !
I remember proposing a meeting when I heard that Redison was coming to Portugal during those few days.
I wasn’t particularly looking for an answer: so I was very surprised and honored when you and Jérôme came back to me and offered to be a Redison demonstrator at the Web Summit 2018 !
Conclusion
It was a real pleasure to meet Paulo during this stay in Portugal.
Paulo was very kind and perfectly fulfilled his role as a demonstrator during the Web Summit, promoting Senstroke during the event.
Paulo was also a great help, and meeting him allowed me to learn a lot about Portugal, drums and music in general.
It is always a pleasure to meet committed real customers, and I hope to meet Paulo again in the future.
