The sensors and the Senstroke application have been available in the hands of all drummers for about three months now.
Find out now what updates are currently in progress in our Android & IOS application.
Regular app updates
As you know, the Senstroke application is central in the use of sensors. It allows Senstroke sensors to be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth, as well as to configure a drum kit.
Since the application was put online on the Play Store, we have published quick and regular updates to fix various bugs and problems encountered.
These various bugs were mainly reported to us via our Redison forum, the main forum for discussion about the Senstroke application.
Indeed, since November 2018, no less than ten updates have been proposed to improve the application.
Most of these fixes concern the optimization of the Bluetooth connection, the improvement of latency, as well as the overall user experience of the application.
Record with Senstroke on Android
As I write these lines, our main objective is to make it possible to record in MIDI via bluetooth on Android.
This feature is currently available on IOS. Simply pair Senstroke sensors with the Garageband application. We have also written a tutorial on this subject available by clicking here.
Unfortunately, there is no free application equivalent to Garageband on Android.
Therefore, we decided to implement MIDI recording via Bluetooth directly in the Senstroke application.
It will then be possible, like any other DAW such as Cubase or Reaper, to directly record all your drumming sessions in the Senstroke application on Android.
This new feature, currently being tested by our developers, allows you to record everything that is played with Senstroke sensors as a MIDI file, so you can then import it into any other music software.
It will now be very easy to record your drummingsessions in rehearsal, cover songs, or even just share Senstroke with your friends !
New features for Android and IOS
We have carefully considered the difficulty encountered by some people during the first configuration of a drum kit.
That’s why we decided to introduce a tutorial to guide the user step by step, directly in the application.
This tutorial is a complement to our Senstroke user manual, available on our website Senstroke.com
Another important update was the implementation of the background play. It is now possible, once the Senstroke sensors have been configured, to play without having to remain on the application.
This advance allows you, for example, to play while launching other applications, such as Spotify, to enjoy playing your favorite songs.
These Android updates, while necessary and numerous, are only the beginning of a series of steps to make your experience smooth and intuitive.
The update of the tutorial under IOS is coming very soon.
The next updates of the Senstroke application on Android and IOS
Of course, once this update is completed, others will soon follow.
We were talking about sharing the recorded drumming sessions with the Senstroke application on Android : we will make this even easier in the coming weeks.
Share your records easily on Android
Indeed, after the release of the MIDI recording on Android, our developers will focus on how to share these recordings.
And this, directly from the Senstroke application !
It will then be possible to directly convert the recorded MIDI file into audio format, and share it on social networks very simply.
Re-Calibrate your sensors instantly on Android and IOS
Another update to come, and not the least: the ability to recalibrate your sensors instantly.
Currently, during a drumming session with Senstroke sensors, they tend to lose their calibration if the user moves around the room.
We will implement an update to recalibrate the sensors with a simple press of the ignition button.
This eliminates the need to reconfigure a drum kit when sensors do not recognize wrist angles: a simple press of the buttons will do the trick.
Playing with Senstroke without configuration on Android and IOS
Speaking of drum kit configuration, we realized that it was this point that could cause some problems to a few users.
Configuring a drum kit by following our user tutorial every time you use Senstroke sensors can be frustrating.
That’s why we will propose, in a futur update, the possibility to play directly with a pre-defined drum kit!
All you have to do is turn on the sensors, connect them to the application, and play.
It will of course still be possible to configure your kit item by item as at present, don’t worry.
And then ?
All these updates have of course been designed to optimize your experience with Senstroke sensors and application.
We want to satisfy you fully, which is why we focus our priorities on your feedback.
Feel free to suggest your ideas for improvement on our Redison forum. You can also react to this article in comments, or directly on Facebook.
We look forward to releasing these updates to ensure that your playing experience is as perfect as possible.
Other articles are available on our blog, such as our report on the Web Summit held in Lisbon in November 2018.
Until then, keep on drumming !
